We began by looking at the existing site and compared it with our target image. The previous site had a classical information structure, but for the new revised version, we wanted to use a structure based on a timeline. On the timeline we mapped out the entrepreneurs and companies included on the website. We added today’s entrepreneurs and modern businesses dating all the way back to the 13th century.
By using a timeline we managed to create an intuitive navigation that makes it easy to “scroll down” in history. At the end of the various articles we’ve also added related posts about how the entrepreneurs got inspired by earlier generations and how today’s companies have emerged from older businesses throughout history.
The result is an easily manageable and clear historiography for elementary and secondary school students when they learn about entrepreneurship in school.
